The talk will be about UK Biobank UK  Biobank is one of the (if the not the) largest biomedical resource in the world with over 10 million samples and 10 billion data items obtained from 500,000 participants (recruited between 2007 and 2010). The talk will provide a short history of UK Biobank outlining its objectives, followed by detail on what's in the resource and its approach to access issues. Particular attention will be given to the nature of the consent that was obtained from its participants and the issues which UK Biobank will face maintaining the anonymity of its participants."
Jonathan Sellors is the legal counsel to UK Biobank. Along with Professor Sir Rory Collins (the CEO of UK Biobank) he has prepared its access materials: which UK Biobank will use when it opens for access in the coming months. Jonathan is also a partner of Finers Stephens Innocent LLP in London, a leading international intellectual property and human rights law firm. Jonathan has degrees in science and law from Exeter University and a master's degree from Columbia University.
